The Department of Inspections, Licenses and Permits is responsible for issuing licenses for a variety of purposes, including rental housing, taxi operators, electricians, dogs and cats. The department serves as a customer service center for distribution, issuance and coordination of multiple types of licenses. Its plan review division works in compliance with building, life safety, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and handicapped accessibility codes. The division also coordinates with project architects and engineers and provides information related to code matters. Its inspection and enforcement division provides all inspections in accordance with construction standards on private properties.
