The Crystal Lake Volunteer Fire Department offers a range of safety, rescue and emergency medical services. Established in 1935, its serves the residents of Ellington in Connecticut. The department holds monthly drills, as well as sponsors various fundraising events. It maintains a water rescue squad that responds to local and out-of-state water-related emergencies. The department s fire station has a meeting hall and more than five bays. It maintains a fleet of rescue and fire trucks, as well as several pieces of equipment. The Crystal Lake Volunteer Fire Department also conducts a fire fighting program for teenagers between the ages of 16 and 18.
