The Gilbert Avenue Elementary School provides academic programs to students in kindergarten through grade five. Its academic curriculum includes reading, writing, math, social studies, science, art, foreign languages, and health and physical education. The school also supports an elementary guidance program that focuses on antidrug, anti-violence and interpersonal skills development. Gilbert Avenue School is comprised of more than 20 staff members, including music instructors, speech therapists and Title 1 aides. It also provides the English as a Second Language program. The school maintains an organization of parents that sponsors several fundraising activities. The Gilbert Avenue Elementary School is a part of Elmwood Park Public schools, which maintains elementary, middle and high schools. It is located in Elmwood Park, N. J.
