Elwood Middle School enrolls more than 600 students in grades six through eight and is located in Elwood, N.Y. It meets the learning requirements of students in transition to high school by offering an educationally balanced program which meets their academic needs and features programs, such as cooperative learning and problem solving activities. In addition to the basic skills of language arts, reading, mathematics, social studies and science, other subjects include physical education, art, music, health, technology, foreign languages and home and careers. Networked computers are located in each classroom to assist with the integration of curriculum materials and provide additional instructional support. The school offers extracurricular activities, such as music, band, orchestra, and various sports, including basketball, soccer and football.
