One of my deepest regrets of my life was having Dr. Clifford Kahn perform my bunion surgery in 2005. I could see my foot looked bad when the wraps were changed during the healing process after surgery, but remained hopeful. After all the physical therapy & exercises, & up til today, it still looks revolting! I realize they can't predict how a foot will turn out since there are many factors to consider. The Dr. evaluates your foot & ex-rays to figure out how many degrees, in which ever direction, your toes or foot, should go, considering if there are toes that overlap, etc., using pins to keep them in place, plus shaving of the bunion itself. One also has to consider walking on them, how one walks effects the outcome, but my walking is normal. I thought, at least I wasn't in pain anymore. Not true, I just experience pain along side of my big toe & under my 3 smaller toes & side of foot, where I develop painful calluses. I live in shame & always wear close toed shoes.
