I have been coming here since they opened last summer. It is a fun place on Fridays especially with a great crowd. The dry-rub wings are the best around. The staff always treats us well no matter how busy it gets. Looks like they are getting a patio ready for the spring!! Nice

Attention all reasonable adult...

Attention all reasonable adults, or rather anyone who has average, if not regular, standards for food and service. Our dinner at the Backyard Bar and Grille was downright good. Simply put, the service is satisfactory. Our food ticket (also known as a check, or "bill") arrived on time and was for the correct amount. Our waitress introduced herself warmly. When we sat down, she took our drink orders and recited the specials with gusto, even adding her own opinions and behind-the-scenes knowledge of the items. She even told us the soup of the day. Several times she asked if everything was ok, which they were. Service is clearly this place's forte. Well, maybe their food was bad... WRONG. It was great! I ordered the ceasar salad and french fries, which is a great way to tell the quality of a restaurant. They were to die for! In a good way! In short, they were delicious and totally edible. So far, so good. The sixteen dollar meal was way overpriced... NOT. It was a great deal! To the point, you should go here and spend your time and money. In a perfect world, this place would be open 24/7. However, in this broken world, they have to close at some point, to sleep.

I live in Enfield, Ct.,we have many restaurants to choose from, so when a new one opens I really do wonder why. On July 2, 2012 a new one opened, The Backyard Bar and Grill [this building was once a friendly's restaurant, you would never know it] this is a family owned business, and the family does work there. I have had lunch and dinner, the main attraction is the atmosphere, my first impression of the menu was great selection great prices, they have 3 pages of food to pick from, and if you want to alter your choice in any way they will be glad to do that, there is also a page for beer and wine. I have always been very picky about food as is everyone, the chef works hard in the back of the house, so the front of the house can enjoy their meal. I have not made a bad choice from this menu, and expect the same for many years to come

Attention all food snobs, or r...

Attention all food snobs, or rather anyone who has decent, if not low, standards for food and service. Our dinner at the Backyard Bar and Grille was downright appalling. Simply put the service is atrocious. Our food ticket was lost and after an hour an a half, our waitress, if you can even call her that, finally realized that...only after we told her. Even when we sat down, she didn't introduce herself, didn't take our drink order, or read the specials. She blatantly asked "What do ya want." She barely said sorry for the loss of our ticket and didn't ask if we wanted any dessert or even if everything was okay. Okay so service isn't this place's forte. Well maybe their food is good, if not decent. WRONG. I ordered the crab cakes, which are a good dish to reveal the quality of the food of a restaurant. These were obviously not made with fresh lump crab meat. To be honest, it tasted more like a chicken or maybe tuna filler. In short, they weren't fresh and frankly inedible. Also, you would think that if you prolonged someone's dinner by 2 plus hours you would give a better discount than 20%. Great we got six dollars off. That six dollars really justified the experience...NOT. To the point don't go here and waste your time and your money.

In a perfect world, this place wouldn't have even opened. However, in this broken world, I predict that it will close in three to six months.

I guess this is why I should stick to my cardinal rule:

Never go anywhere that has the name "Backyard" or "Barn" in the name-- you will pay for it!

(Although the food was up to barn quality...on second thought I wouldn't feed livestock THAT "food'...I'm pretty sure that is animal cruelty.)

My favorite part of the experience was leaving. For good. I AM NEVER COMING BACK AND I WILL MAKE SURE NO ONE EVER GOES TO THIS RESTAURANT AGAIN.

So unless you like trailer park atmosphere, food and service...don't go.
