The Rehabilitation Institute Program has the distinction of being the one of the few programs in Northwest Oklahoma accredited by CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) as an Inpatient Adult Brain Injury Rehabilitation Hospital. The Rehabilitation Institute Brain Injury System was developed to maximize recovery for a very specific population by providing intensive rehabilitation services that prevent or minimize chronic disabilities while restoring optimal levels of functioning. The individualized program is intended to provide services for people with a variety of brain injuries, particularly traumatic injuries, who have the potential to benefit from an aggressive rehabilitation program. At the Rehabilitation Institute, comprehensive rehabilitation services are provided for patients who have had strokes. Other common names for impairments treated at St. Mary's are cerebrovascular accident or CVA, ruptured aneurysm, cerebral hemorrhage and cerebral infarction. Such patients have cognitive and physical problems requiring relearning of skills that were previously automatic.
