The Institute of Medical Careers (IMC,) located in Penn Hills, has offered allied health career training since 1995. IMC is nationally accredited and offers several allied health programs that include Phlebotomy, Medical Assisting, Dental Assisting, Medical Billing and Coding, and Massage Therapy. IMC offers an Associate Degree in Massage Therapy with Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy, one of only a few programs in the country. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that the healthcare industry will add nearly 3.2 million new jobs by 2018, an increase of 22.5 percent. With an aging population and diversification in health services, that’s recession-proofing your career! Two new Business Administration programs were added recently, Accounting, and Marketing and Management. Graduates of these programs will find employment in human resources, office management, accounting, payroll, public relations, marketing and sales, and business management and administration. IMC has a “sister” school in Erie, The Institute of Medical and Business Careers (IMBC.) There is a dynamic relationship between both schools for students who want to transfer or graduates looking to relocate to another city.
