In a rush, I half ran into Lowes (asbury rd.) To grab a few home repair items. As I entered the store on the contractors side there were three employees standing by the cashiers desk. I asked if they would grab me a sheet of drywall while I went in search for a few other items. One of the employees said "sure." I needed a gallon of deck stain so I waited for five minutes as the woman that worked at that station talked on and on about her garden with two other older women. I finally interrupted and asked if she would prepare this particular stain for me as I went in search of other supplies. Over to the hardware area for drywall screws, searching the row for the particular size I needed, there was an employee watching me as I combed the aisle up and down not able to find it. Frustrated, I stood up to directly ask him for help and at just that moment he said "can I help you?" Unfortunately, he was speaking to the black family about ten feet behind me. (The employee was black as well.) In a state of shock I watched as he approached the family and generously engaged them in their home repair discussion. A bit flustered I continued for another ten minutes until I finally found what I needed. Back to the paint department fifteen minutes later there was no one to be found. I asked another employee if they could help me search the other workers department for my gallon of stain. She found it inside of a shaker. Off I went back to the contractors side to get my sheet of drywall only to find niether of the employees bothered to help while I was gathering other supplies. This was not my best visit to lowes on Asbury road. Its also not the first time I've experienced racism but it seems to becoming more and more frequent. I think I'll try home depot next time.

I will NEVER buy anything from Lowe's EVER AGAIN! When I tried to return defective product they sold me, they refused to take it back or give me a refund! They said there were legal reasons. OK fine - but not even a lousy gift card to keep a customer happy?! By the way, I found a better quality product at another store for less than half the price. Bu-Bye Lowe's!
