Provided by YP.comWe have adopted three kittens from the Anna Shelter, two 3 years ago and one this year. Each time has been a good experience. I would not have written this review, but I read the previous one and felt it needed a rebuttal. First, the family who adopts a pet is NOT a customer and should not expect to be treated as one. The shelter is very careful to represent the needs of the animals, not the needs of the humans. If the staff seems hyper-vigilant when considering an adoption it is because they should be. Many of the animals have not had good homes in the past and the staff will not allow them to be adopted until they are sure they will go to good homes. When there is a doubt, the decision must be on the side of caution, for the animal's benefit. The previous poster could be a wonderful person and may have made a great home for the kitten, but unless the staff was certain of that, they needed to not allow the cat to be adopted. Perhaps the landlord was less positive when called than let on. Perhaps the woman seemed a little ill-prepared for having a cat. I don't know. But based on my experience and my observations of the Anna Shelter I choose to trust their decision.

Provided by YP.comThese people are amazing! They genuinely care about animals and take their forever family search seriously. I love that Anna shelter won't "sell" these little sweethearts to anyone who walks in with a wallet. We need more places like this and more people like them. We donate whenever we are able.

Provided by YP.comI Was So Excited To Get Two Beautiful Twin Kittens That I Had Seen Online At The Anna Shelter. So My Boyfriend And I decided that we would go to the shelter the next business day. We Went To The Anna Shelter & Found the 2 bundles of joy :). I Filled Out The Application and since I rent The Home I live in i had to provide a phone number so they could contact my landlord. At The Time I Did not have his phone number on me. For some reason My Boyfriend and i started to get nasty looks and Even Worse comments from 2 of the female staff members. I Ignored It Returned Home Found My Landlords Phone Number and Called The Anna Shelter. I Explained To Them Who I was and Told Them That I had found my Landlords number that I had contacted him and told him they would be calling. Guess what happened next..... They Hung up on me! Not once but Twice. Well I really wanted these twin kittens so even though they hung up on me Twice I called for a 3rd time. This time they told me to just come in there next available day. So That Is what I did. I Was At The Anna Shelter Exactly at 10:00am when they open. I was hoping both of the twins would still be there, to my dismay there was only one. So I Planned on Adopting The one kitten. I Filled out another application this time with my landlords phone number and Even My Lease just incase. Once Again I Was Given Dirty Looks And Nasty Attitudes. I Even showed the staff member who i had trouble with previously my Lease. She Told me She had contacted My Landlord And Said He Was Ok with letting me purchase the kitten ( which i already knew because I contacted him the previous day). She Told Me I Still Had To Wait While She Ran It By Another Staff Member. Now Why would that have anything to do with me adopting a kitten with my Landlords permission? About 20 min later the Staff Member came back out and Said " Well We Still Have To Talk This Over, If We even consider you adopting one of the pets we will call you". I Had Tears right then and there and responded by saying " Please Do Not Even Call Me After How You Treated Me The Last 2 Days". And The Thing That Hurts the most is the fact that every other person who walked In The Anna Shelter walked out with a pet..... And were not even Hassled the way they were hassling me. THANK YOU ANNA SHELTER FOR MAKING ME CRY AND FOR MAKING ME FEEL VERY SMALL!!!! I Am a Good Person I love Animals And was so excited to have the 2 twins be part of my family. Bad Review for you! I give You a 0 OUT OF 10! I Would Recommend Going Somewhere other than The Anna Shelter, And I Would Even Recommend That The Anna Shelter Have A Talk With there staff members about how they treat there customers, Because If They Treat There Customers The Way They Treated Me I Seriously Doubt They Will Have As Much business. And Unfortunately In Order For Me To Post This Review They require me to give them at least a one star rating. But To Me They Deserve 0 stars. Sincerely Sad Unhappy customer.
