I researched the ratings for seafood in Gloucester and Essex and this place seemed to get consistently high marks. I also needed wheelchair access.



Must have been an off night tonight. The fried clams were very overcooked. We thought we were getting all whole bellies. but the plate held about half whole belly and half strips. The whole bellies that were there were so overcooked that there was none of the lovely taste sensation that one gets when biting into one. The strips were very rubbery. The fried scallops were very good, the fried haddock plain but fresh. Their idea of cole slaw is plain cabbage shreds with minimal sauce and no spicing at all. "Prices may vary", yep, the web site varied from the in-house menu which varied from the actual price on the board.



Lastly, one can get a wheelchair in the door and to a table, but the BATHROOMS ARE NOT SET UP FOR THE HANDICAPPED. There are NO metal grab bars around the toilets, and if you are confined to a wheelchair, you CANNOT get in and close the door. This restaurant REALLY needs to change their designation.



We have had better fried whole belly clams at Bickfords. How sad is that!
