Provided by YP.comWe ordered special chopsticks as gifts from this online retailer, spending almost $50 for 2 pairs. We chose ones advertised as replicas of Japanese samurai swords in history. When they arrived, however, we discovered that both pairs were made of plastic...weightless, hollow plastic.
We'd read on the website of the owners' passion for chopsticks, which made us think twice. We decided to test the chopsticks, only to discover they were far too light to use. We looked on the site for replacements and called the company.
I explained to the employee that took my call that nowhere in the item descriptions does it say that the chopsticks are plastic. The employee asked if they'd been used, and I said yes, we had tested them briefly, hoping to keep them but they were too light, but that the chopsticks look spotless. I requested to return and a reimbursement of shipping.
The employee said if we'd searched for "plastic chopsticks" in their website's search bar, the plastic chopsticks would have shown in search results. I replied that we'd clicked their tab, "cool chopsticks," and there was no reference to "plastic"... and why would we search for plastic chopsticks if we didn't want them?
The employee said they could not accept a return. She said she did not write the description, and that she spoke to the owner, and it is not their fault. I asked how it could be our fault?
She said we could not move forward with the return. I explained that they were losing our business, and that I would leave a bad review as a result of this, to which the employee said I was entirely within my right to do so. She again said she'd spoken with the owner and there was nothing that could be done for us.
I asked to speak with the owner, myself. The employee said the owner had just stepped into a meeting. She said she would call next week. I said she was welcome to call that day, after the meeting, but the employee said they were closing soon.
Buyer, beware. My advice is to shop elsewhere.
