Evanston Fire & Life-Safety Services, earlier known as the Evanston Fire Department, offers a range of fire prevention, rescue and emergency medical services. The department maintains a work force of more than 100 employees, including sworn officers and civilian support people. Evanston Fire & Life-Safety Services responds to more than 8,500 calls annually. The department has a fleet of various apparatus, including fire engines, ladder trucks, ambulances and a command vehicle. Evanston Fire & Life-Safety Services operates several fire stations, as well as conducts fire prevention training sessions. Additionally, the department provides testing services for fire alarms, emergency lighting and sprinklers. Established in 1875, Evanston Fire & Life-Safety Services maintains a presence in Evanston, Ill.
