Daniel is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has 17 years experience working as mental health counselor and psychotherapist. He earned his Bachelors of Science in Psychology from the University of Evansville in 1992 and a Masters of Social Work with an emphasis on Clinical Social Work from the University of Southern Indiana in 2000. He acquired his professional license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in 2004. Daniel has provided mental health counseling in many different capacities over the years including: counselor at a substance abuse treatment center, in-home therapist for families involved with the Department of Child Services, psychotherapist at a behavioral health clinic, and mental health counselor for students at a university counseling center. Daniel has extensive experience working with individuals and families who struggle with various mental health issues including: stress & anxiety, depressive episodes, traumatic experiences, loss of a loved-one, discordant dynamics in couples & families, and difficult life transitions. Daniel primarily provides mental health services for adults, adolescents and families. His theoretical orientation is eclectic in nature. He draws heavily on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy as a template for conceptualizing the causes and nature of mental health issues while comfortably applying Cognitive-Behavioral and Solution Focused interventions as tools for facilitating change. Daniel also has training in the cultivation of mindfulness as a tool to support acceptance and management of various mental health issues. His approach to psychotherapy is one that prioritizes developing a therapeutic relationship with his clients and helping them to better understand the causes and nature of their distress. It is from this foundation of a compassionate therapeutic relationship and improved insight that psychotherapy interventions are applied to facilitate change.
