On Friday July 27th, I drove from Springfield to Beavercreek to redeem my coupon I received for my b-day for a free cupcake. Once I reviewed the menu, I decided Friday was the day I wanted to go as the selection looked the best that day in my opinion.I luv Gigi's cupcakes and was looking forward to them all day. When we arrived at the store it was 5:45 pm, there was a small tray of maybe 6 cupcakes, all one flavor (funky monkey i believe). The girl at the counter advised us that that was all that was left as that day had been a busy day. Here's where it started to go downhill. Since the store in Beavercreek is the closest one to Springfield, we had to drive about 25-30 mins to get there. Like most ppl, I do not take the day off work to go get cupcakes, so I had to wait to leave until I got off work, which was about 4:30 PM. You can imagine our dismay when we arrived to see we had 6 cupcakes to choose from, all one flavor, and not one of the flavors I wanted to purchase that day. Because along with having a coupon for a free cupcake, we had planned on purchasing at least a dozen other cupcakes. What the real clencher was, was when the girl at the counter informed us that she had just made some cupcakes for herself, and offered us one. This was a nice gesture, but heres my question, you had enough time to make yourself cupcakes, but didnt have enough time through out the day to make enough for paying customers?? Don't you make tips on that?? This is not the way to do business in my opnion. At 5:45, the store still had another hour and fifteen minutes to be open. How can you sustain business with 6 cupcakes to offer whatever customers come in the door after us?? I feel kind of bad for the girl behind the counter bc I can only imagine the customers she would have had to deal with until closing time. I can only imagine the amount of money being lost doing business this way. And advising that cupcakes should be ordered earlier in the day is not the answer most ppl are going to want to hear. I can understand not wanting to waste food, but I'm sure the amount of food wasted would not compare to the amount of money that would be made if a variety of cupcakes were available all day, not just part of the day. If I have another experience like this one, I'm afraid I may no longer be a Gigi's customer and will inform anyone else of my experience. Your cupcakes are delicious and worth the drive, but not if there isn't a selection to pick from.
