The Union Parish Detention Center is a 380-plus-bed facility that houses adult male and female inmates. The center is responsible to insure public safety by care, custody and control of inmate population. It houses federal and parish pretrial and sentenced inmates. The Union Parish Detention Center serves parish jail and hard labor sentences. The center also serves as the booking and holding facility for law enforcement agencies. It provides an adult education program that allows inmates to receive a general equivalency diploma and life skills training for re-entry in the society. The Union Parish Detention Center is operated by the Police Jury of Union Parish.
