Transmission Giant Inc.

1114 New York 110 (Broad Hollow Road)

Farmingdale, NY 11735

(631) 293-0090

Located on the west side of Broad Hollow Road, (NY 110), south of Great Neck Road and just north of the entrance to Southern State Parkway. (At the beginning of the westbound entrance ramp to SS Pkwy.)

I recently visited Transmission Giant Inc. for what I thought was going to be a costly transmission repair. Rick, the owner, greeted me, and asked me to explain the symptoms I was experiencing with the car. After a brief discussion, Rick said, “Doesn’t sound like a tranny problem, but let’s take a closer look.” After a visual inspection, Rick attached a specialized code reader to the car, and the problem turned out to be a malfunctioning module (whatever that is). Rick explained everything to me, fully, and I approved the repair before he performed any work. While I was there, I decided that a transmission service was also in order. Rick agreed, but was not pressuring me, yet pointed out a seal was leaking. I felt the price for the transmission service was more than reasonable, (cheap actually), and the transmission service was necessary, (actually, long overdue). Like so many other motorists, transmission service is an area of automotive maintenance that I have often neglected. This oversight, or neglect, often leads to unexpected breakdowns, and very costly repairs. Here, an ounce of prevention goes a long, long way. I got lucky, since they discovered a leak in a seal that could have led to a total destruction of the transmission. Besides, I was now confident that I was in good, honest, knowledgeable and reliable hands.

After receiving the necessary repair parts, they were expertly, installed. The car was then road tested. I was more than happy with the repair, and was ready to be on my way. However, Rick had some trepidations and was uncomfortable with the results. I thought the car ran fine, yet, who am I to argue with the experts? Intuitively, Rick felt there was a defect in one of the parts ordered, even though there was no apparent indication of a malfunction. Rick asked me to be a bit more patient, so that he could repeat the repair with newly ordered parts.

After installing new parts, for a second time, the car was road tested, and Rick was now confident with the repair. Rick then pointed out that I should have the shock absorbers replaced, since they were leaking. Curiously, I had them replaced just a few months earlier at a different repair shop. Rick pointed out that they should still be under warranty. I opted to replace them with a more heavy-duty variety. A few weeks later, I ordered specialty shock absorbers, and contacted Transmission Giant, to inquire if they would install these special shocks. Thankfully, they agreed.

Again, the repair was quick, efficient, and inexpensive. The car was road tested, and I am elated with the results.

The reasonableness of the repair bill was impressive, being much less than anticipated. Both times, the crew worked hard and long on the car. Built for both on-road and off-road use, this car comes with its own inherent, repair challenges. Rick’s automotive knowledge shined brilliantly, saving me what could have potentially cost me thousands of dollars.

Transmission Giant is an automotive repair shop that is not just a cut above the rest, but also, clearly a cut above the best. Rick is “old school” and demands perfection before anything leaves his shop. His honesty and determination to give the best service available is more than commendable. There is no upselling, or confusion about the repairs.

I would highly recommend Transmission Giant for its superior knowledge, integrity, “cost effectiveness”, and, excellent customer care.
