This is a nice facility: they have secure fencing and clean, standard-sized units. You can choose from climate controlled or non-climate controlled. A passcode is required to enter the premises after hours. You can also view and make payments to your account online. They will charge you $1 per month for a paper statement, and they require you to purchase storage insurance.



However, beware: once you have gone through the time and expense of moving your things in they will systematically raise your rent on you. The increases will not be normal or reasonable. For example, a percentage increase corresponding to inflation rates might be reasonable. However, my rent increased more than 40% over a year and a half; apparently, this is how they reward good customers who pay on time. It looks like their business model is once they bait you into moving in they gouge you, taking advantage of the fact that it would likely be a substantial hassle and expense for you to take your things elsewhere. Speaking with customer service will do you no good: the response from the district manager in my case was, "This is a business and we're looking to make money." Instead of trying to work out some reasonable arrangement, they will just try to con you into thinking you are the one being unreasonable. They are not looking to help you, only looking to sucker you into continuing to let them burn you.



They offer the ability to have your monthly payment automatically charged to your credit or debit card. However, I strongly advise against this. While they tout this as a "convenience" it really only serves to improve the likelihood that exorbitant rent increases will go undetected and unchallenged.



They offer a $50 referral bonus if someone becomes a new customer at your suggestion. Despite this, whenever I know of someone looking for storage services I advise them to not go to Extra Space, but to look elsewhere.

Ridiculous Price Gouging

I had my monthly rate increased several times to almost DOUBLE the posted internet price. WOULD VERY MUCH NOT RECOMMEND this place for your storage needs. The company (John -manager for the state of Ct) refused to offer internet price and could only go down to $40 ABOVE the posted price.
