The St. Francois County Sheriff s Department offers an array of law enforcement services. It manages a fleet of patrol, investigation and community policing cars and vans, and is located in Farmington, Mo. The department has a canine unit that specializes in bomb and narcotics detection. The St. Francois County Sheriff s Department operates the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program that offers information on stress management, gang violence prevention and drugs awareness for children in grades five through eight. The department also maintains a detention facility that houses county inmates, subjects from other agencies, individuals arrested on warrants U.S. wide and detainees of the U.S. Marshal. The St. Francois County Sheriff s Department additionally conducts musical sessions for nonprofit groups.
