It was hard to find a therapist who would listen patiently and yet drop a marker on the relevant moments in the painful and chaotic conversations that l had to unpack. l didn't know where to begin or end with my trouble when l first met Halee Roberts, yet without inserting herself or imposing her own direction she has helped me find perspective--- a ground of understanding my past enough to move forward.
She has helped me recognize and affirm what innate ability l have to heal and make better decisions for myself. It has taken time to do this. But even in the early sessions she provided a "take away" reflection or practical action to use as a tool for resolving or living with daily difficulties.
Also I feel relief to have found a counselor who is transparent about the process of achieving healing and empowerment. She has a sense of humor that has helped me when l have brought painful or ridiculous matters before her. I appreciate that she doesn't make me feel like an idiot who will never be able to function without her advice and counsel--she is fundamentally respectful of a person's dignity.
In general I feel that she has already restored my long lost optimism for my life.
If you have all but despaired of counseling as l had, give her a try.
