Prior to training in psychology, I was a middle school and high school English Language Arts teacher for 5 years. I obtained my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the State University of New York, University at Buffalo in 2008. Practicum experiences include: University at Buffalo Counseling Center, Buffalo Veterans Administration Medical Center, Erie County Medical Center, and Women and Children’s’ Hospital of Buffalo Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic. I also completed a practicum in school-based family therapy and a summer-long cross-cultural educational program in Costa Rica. I completed a clinical psychology internship at University of Kansas Medical Center, where I worked in inpatient and outpatient clinics, and at a methadone maintenance drug rehabilitation program. Between 2008 and 2010, I completed a two year fellowship at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas which focused on development and implementation of in-home Family Behavior Therapy for substance-abusing mothers referred for child neglect. I worked as a licensed psychologist in Las Vegas, NV at Harmony Healthcare, a multi-disciplinary clinic between 2010 and 2011. Here I spent half of my time conducting psychological evaluations and half of my time administering individual and family therapy. In 2011, my husbandmilitary transfer brought us to Fort Bragg, NC. After obtaining my NC licensure, I began treating client at the Cardinal Clinic until December 2012. In January 2013, we established Lopez Psychological Services, PLLC, and started a private practice. I currently also work as a consultant to the University of North Carolina TEACCH Autism Center in Fayetteville. Professional Activities Member of the American Psychological Association (APA), the North Carolina Psychological Association (NCPA), the NCPA’s Division of Independent Practitioners (DIPP), and the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science (ACBS). I am currently the Coastal Region representative for the NCPA.
