This law firm is the most unorganized place of business that I have ever encountered. They don't do their research properly, they don't use information given to them by the client to help the client's case and they do not communicate. Cooke will go to court for you and not inform you of what happened in court, you have to track down one of his incompetent assistants and hope to receive a return call. Also to add insult to injury, they have the audacity to excuses for their unprofessional service

James Cooke Jr saved me more than once..James Cooke took my case when another attorney in town screwed it beyond repair and saved my butt. He is worth ever dime I paid fighting for me, The staff calls me back and emails back and I live out of town. I have seen all the divorce attorney in fayetteville NC and will take Jim over all of them. and I am not attorney ,

James Cooke Jr.-DO NOT HIRE!!! It was a nightmare. Extremely disorganized, catered to the other side, did not look out for my best interest, didn't file things on time, didn't keep me informed, blamed me for everything and nothing was ever his fault, was disrespectful and patronizing especially on the phone, and I am still dealing with the consequences of his mishandling of my case. He's all about quantity NOT QUALITY! He'll give you his email and cell number but once you give him the money good luck getting a hold of him. He blames his staff for everything and his staff blames him and you're in the middle getting screwed.

Shows up for court unprepared, does not communicate and when he does it's misleading. I provided detailed support documents which he never addressed in court. When confronted he blames his staff. Will make all the promises in the world and delivers nothing. You're better off representing yourself.

The other 5 star comments by "Babygirl" and "From VA" are actually Atty Bryce Neier. It's actually hilarious and ironic. Neier makes Cooke look like an alter boy, in need of mental help. They're both wiped out of the same pig's rear end.

All of you that are sitting here complaining. Your lawyer is only as good as you allow them to be. James Cooke is in the top 5 family attorneys in Cumberland County. If you are not honest with him and give him the vital information that he needs, he can't do his job properly, Also James is an amazing guy. I got everything out of my case that I wanted. I am a women that was give sole custody of my daughter and everything that I asked for. Do not sit here and bash someone on a public forum. You guys have no idea what you are talking about.

PLEASE DO NOT HIRE JAMES COOKE BECAUSE HE RIPPED ME OFF. HE NEVER RETURNS PHONE CALLS, HE NEVER SHOWED UP ON COURT DATES, AND WHEN THE CASE WAS OVER HE DID NOT RETURN ANY MONEYS THAT WAS DUE BACK TO ME. I DIDN'T RECIEVE COURT NOTICES AND WHEN THERE WAS A COURT DATE I HAD TO CALL HIS OFFICE TO INFORM HIM. YOU WILL LOOSE YOUR MONEY AND MAYBE YOUR CASE.

Mr. Cooke is not worth the money and a complete waste of time. I hire him for a divorce case. I am in NC and she is in another state which was explained in the first meeting. He was told not to send a certified letter because she would not sign for it and to serve thru law enforcement. He did not, she did not sign this was in July, in Oct I called him to find out status of her being serve, he says I need to talk to you about that. Mr. Cooke had the never to say that I gave him the wrong address to a house that I have been paying on over ten yrs. To make a long story short Mr. Cooke has no idea on what to do when it comes to divorce when some else is in another state. Six months wasted just to hire another in her state that knows what to do. Do Not Hire this Lawyer, you will be wasting time and money.

Cooke did OK for me. My ex really fought to make my life hell, and he didn't do much to stop her. I unerstand that you can't always run into the courts complaining about the significant other. But sometimes you have to have the balls to tell a judge that there's too much BS and one of the parents needs slapped. IDK what everyone else has dealt with but I would not use this guy if you have someone who's going to fight back, or just make your life suck.

I feel yur pain I'm going thur the same some how he has lied to the courts and they take 3/4 of all I make to give to her , I don't mine paying child support. But fair is fair

I am a MALE who currently uses Mr. Cooke. He has done absolutely nothing for me. . My ex received everything she wanted and I received all bills and child support that I cannot afford.

Mr Cook has worked wonders for my case, I had one other other lawyer in Fayetteville how hung me out to dry. Mr Cook and his Staff is just Great. I live out of state and each and every one them listen to me and take the time to prepare for my case as needed. Mr Cook and his staff is a God send to me. These reviews are way off base. A buch of whiners which is typical of most domestic clients. Jim works pretty much round the clock, and he does not favor one gender over another. Abusive staff, you must be joking...I have dealt with his staff on a weekly basis. they are polite ane quite responsive.....he gets things done...maybe you need to get realistic.

Works for your rights if you are a man but if you are a woman... sorry for you.

Just like the woman in the review above, Mr Cooke robbed me of an enormous retainer fee and in the end my abusive, cheating ex husband is making out like a bandit! I've eaten at Food Pantrys and soup kitchens while my ex, an E7 in the Army lives well. He won't verify any financial affidavits, he only works for men. If you have children and lots to lose, hiring James Cooke is the absolute worse thing you could ever do! His staff? Mentally challenged and rude! Im reporting him to the State Bar! Never ever ever put your welfare in this man's hands. You will lose the shirt on your back....and your kids. I'm serious.

Due to finances I'm stuck with this unprofessional firm and an inadequate attorney Mr. COOKE. The secretary is rude and assistants uninformed and helpful, and these are the only people who I'm able to speak with when I am always the one to contact or try to! Mr. Cooke. It's been 4 months since I made the costly mistake of hiring Mr. Cooke and nothing has been mitigated nor resolved, and my circumstances have worsened to the point of destitution, homelessness, and utterly hopeless... Mr. Cooke is rarely available to speak to in any capacity, but when I have he's patronizing, inconsiderate, and dismissive (not to mention Mr.Cooke is more attentive to male clientele). Ive already been (put lightly) mistreated and discarded by husband and military, and I paid for help and some wrongs to be righted (and yes, some consideration)--but NOT getting anything nor anywhere for all Mr. Cooke has been paid. Paying a far higher price beyond the monetary kind...Wish I'd have had more time to research
