Although certain medical conditions may cause concern for anesthesia this is true at any age but old age itself is not a disease. A puppy or kitten with a heart problem is an anesthetic concern just as a heart problem would be a concern in a 15 year old pet. With a physical exam, preoperative bloodwork, and a consultation with the doctor concerning expectations, anesthesia can be pursued at any age without undue risk. I've been working with a rescue group. I have occasion to deal w/these wonderful people almost weekly. I've never been made to wait. They are always patient w/my endless questions. In any emergency they've been reassuring w/o being false or patronizing. We love the animals we rescue and they not only respect that, they share the passion for making the world a better place for all. Their prices are a tad bit more but they are worth EVERY penny! Good health care isn't cheap. Especially when I know they aren't getting bailout $$, it is refreshing to know they still work w/rescues to help keep our costs down too. I like that Dr. B likes puppy kisses as much as I do or that when a big dogs needs a big hairy hug they aren't pushed away. Location is convenient, right behind the Bluffs.
