I would tell them the caregivers there are really good and caring. Some of them go over and above the call of duty...- but they can't keep caregivers because they pay a paltry salary, and have their caregivers drive all over, and out of town and don't reimburse them for gas..therefore the small wage they make is eaten up by the gas they use in their own cars. These workers take care of the sick and elderly, clean for them, cook for them, give them baths, clean up all manner of crap, despite the odor..and believe me I don't know how these girls can stand it. They should at least get a good wage. Any person's time is worth at least $10 per hour. This should not be a business that pays cheap wages. When an aid cannot come because they are short..it then puts the burden on the family...and most family members at this time of the life, with elderly parents in the 80's, are in their 60's or retired and cannot do this work. We have this going on frequently at the Heritage Healthcare at Findlay, Ohio. I have talked to all the girls, nurses and caregivers. And they try their best to get help, but sometimes there is nothing they can do. Their hands are tied. If Heritage Healthcare is going to be in business, they should at least pay their workers a decent wage. In this day and age, even $10 a hour is not much. If they can't , they should get out of the business. Susan Holderman, 21356 State Rt. 12
