Provided by YPmobileHaving never been to a location where you can drop off a deer to be processed; the whole thing was new to me. GPS is a good idea for finding the place. It's not exactly on the beaten track, and doesn't scream meat processor until you pull around back. Then you see the large rail for conveying the meat into the cooler or processing area. I would highly recommend skinning your deer before you bring it there. I did not and my deer was put into a side cooling area on top of 10-15 other deer waiting to be processed. Skinned deer get taken right inside. Also have an idea of how you want your deer cut up: roasts, hamburger, sausage, and into what size packages: 1, 2, 3lb and 4,6,8 pieces, mixed with pork, or bacon, etc. I wanted some pieces sliced for jerky that was $10 more, but will save me a lot of time and mess when I start the jerky process. This is not a next day deal during gun season, or probably ever. I was told to expect to wait 2-3 weeks. You waited all year to shoot a deer, now you'll wait a little longer to eat it, which brings us back to the skinning. If you skin it yourself it will be processed more quickly and you can slice off some if you just have to have some venison ASAP. You will receive no receipt for your deer. They put a tag on its ear with all your pertinent information, so make sure it's correct. There was no one there when I arrived, so the whole dropoff took less than 10 minutes and we were back in the woods with enough time to shoot another deer before the end of the day.
