The Parks and Recreation Department is governed by the government of the town of Florence,Ariz., which was founded in 1866 and also operates finance, fire, human resources, public works and library departments. The Parks and Recreation Department provides recreational, social, educational and cultural activities and programs for youths and adults. The department s facilities include basketball and volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, ball fields, playgrounds, skate parks, and senior citizen, fitness and recreational centers. Additionally, it organizes aquatic, sports and special activities. The Florence Parks and Recreation Department also offers trips, aerobic sessions, and yoga classes and seminars. The department s parks maintenance division operates all parks, playground equipment and concession facilities.
