Bad experience with daughters wedding dress. It was not finished when promise, did not have the embellishments promised, had weird looking tucks on the hemline, and made us pick it up on the wedding day without being pressed and making us wait in the SUV outside for a hour. While she finished up the hemline. IT should have been ready weeks ago. Excuses were, on vacation, an emergency, yada yada yada. I think maybe "Prom Season" Dress should have taken priority since Jean had it for 3 months and 8 fittings. My advise to you is: Stick to your WORD, don't give brides the

RUN AROUND, do what you PROMISE to the dress, and DONT PROCRASTINATE!!!!!

I will never go back to Amkor’s alterations woman, Jean. At my original fitting to have my bridesmaid dress altered, I asked her for an estimate on the couple of things we had done. She beat around the bush and wouldn’t tell me any numbers except the price of the cups we would be adding. I got sick at the end of the appointment and left, but we had already established what needed to be altered and pinned those parts. I asked about prices before I left and got no answer. I came back to pick the dress up and she was charging me an outrageous amount-over 3 times what my normal seamstress charges for the same work. Just to bring up a straight hem about an inch or two cost ~FIFTY DOLLARS! The alterations added up to be over the cost of the elegant bridesmaid dress.

Jean was nice during the fitting but very rude when I brought up my concerns with pricing. She was 15 minutes late to our appointment, and forgot she even had an appointment with my sister who was supposed to have her wedding dress altered here (went somewhere else after Jean forgot the appointment). When my sister called Jean with concerns about the price of my alterations, she held the phone away from her head and rolled her eyes. I compared her prices to my regular seamstress and she kept telling me it was ridiculous to compare…for the same services.





In short:

1. While she was nice at first, she was very rude when I was concerned that she was very much overcharging me

2. I asked for a price list the first visit and she wouldn’t give me even an estimate while I was fitted or when I called to confirm my second appointment

3. The prices were OUTRAGEOUS for what the work was- I have compared with multiple seamstresses in the area for the same work and gotten estimates of $50-$60 for Jean’s prices of ~$160

After a lot of haggling, she did give a discount, but it was still nowhere near what other seamstresses charge.

The owners were nice and understanding, so I can’t judge how the dry cleaning services are, but I will never return to Amkor for alterations. I went to her because she was recommended for formal occasion dresses, and wish I had stuck with my regular seamstress who has proven herself excellent quality/price for the same work.

What can I say...Jean is amazing!! My daughter Allie brought her bridesmaid dress to Jean to be fitted. Allie was having medical issues and kept losing weight. Jean was so patient and made sure she kept Allie coming back in to make sure the fit was right. Allie's dress was stunning thanks to Jean, and the cost was amazingly low considering all of the alterations! I would recommend her to everyone. She is very talented and a very wonderful, caring person!
