Since Tom Thumb redesigned this store it has been such a pleasure to shop there. They always have what I'm looking for and they continue to be extremely helpful to locate items, now that they have rearranged where everything is. I really appreciate that they employ young adults who are slightly disabled, and also their participation in raising money for charities is very effective. The Rewards card has earned me many frequent flyer miles over the years. My neighbors all agree that this store is like a cornerstone, especially now with the trendy redesign, to our neighborhood.

Don't use the Pharmacy

I have never had a problem with the grocery part but I have with the Pharmacy. My 6 month old daughter was VERY ill. She had a life threatening respiratory infection and needed antibiotics and breathing treatments. Her Dr.'s office called in the prescription to Tom Thumb pharmacy. I waited about 2 hours to pick it up in order to give the pharmacy time to collect the script from the machine and fill it. This would also minimize the time I had to have my daughter out. I got to the window and the clerk couldn't find my Rx. Finally she found it sitting on a counter somewhere and said they hadn't filled it yet and it would be another hour. (For a box of saline vials for the respirator and to mix a bottle of amoxicillin!) Anyway, I asked why they hadn't even begun to process it yet and she said it was because the people that walk in with their prescription are put at the head of the line and since mine was called in by the Dr, I'm not considered to be waiting for it since I'm not in the store. I was furious. I have NEVER had this happen before. They had all my information in the computer so they knew it was for an infant and they also knew the type of medicine she needed was for something serious. Now here I am having to drag a sick infant out twice and she has to go even longer without her medicine to help her breathe. From now on, I'm going to Walgreens!
