NRCA is a private non-profit organization, and serves as an umbrella agency for numerous local anti-poverty programs designed to combat problems of poverty and to alleviate the conditions of poverty as they affect the inhabitants of the New River Valley (NRV), Virginia. NRCA develops programs that address issues of housing, health, education, nutrition, employment, emergency assistance, and other areas known to be related to poverty. NRCA programs include the Children’s Health Improvement Partnership of NRV, Emergency Assistance, Head Start, Housing & Homeless Programs, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, Responsible Rides, VA CARES Program, and seasonal programs.
