Incorporated in 1907, the Queens Borough Public Library is an independent, nonprofit corporation. It is one of the largest public libraries in the United States. The library serves more than 2 million individuals, as well as maintains over 62 locations throughout New York. It stocks nearly 1,250,000 books, approximately 2,100 periodicals and more than 50,000 print items, including government documents, directories, journals, and financial service and investor guides.
