Provided by YP.comShort version: I'm not sure how Lyle would feel knowing that his employees knowingly turn away customers.
Long version: I went into Lyle's through recommendation from a friend who said that Lyle is very friendly, and his services are affordable, and getting the car over for what needs to be fixed is free. When I got there the lady at the desk said the synthetic oil change costs $60 and the service for looking over my car is indeed free. The place I usually go to is only $40 for an oil change, but figuring in the service cost, I agreed this was probably fair. They changed my oil and the mechanic (not Lyle but some other guy) came out and told me I need new brakes and that's it. Now, I'm not an expert, but when a car's hood is bungee corded down because the hood release cable snapped, there are a bunch of recalls on the car, the car kicks when I step on the gas, and the check engine light is on, obviously there is plenty wrong with the car. When I pointed some of this out, the mechanic rudely told me that he wasn't going to check the car because he doesn't mess with it and that I should take it to a bigger shop. Having known this earlier I would have definitely taken my car to a different place, paid less, and wasted less of my time. Now I have to find a different place to go to so I can figure out what needs to be fixed. I'm not sure how Lyle would feel knowing that his employees knowingly turn away customers and overcharge them. Maybe it was just a bad mechanic, and the rest of their dealership, sales, and services are great, but unfortunately I will never know because I won't be coming back.

Provided by YP.comSTAY AWAY from Lyle's Auto. I have purchased dozens of vehicles, mostly from reputable dealers (i.e. ones that sell both new and pre-owned cars). Unfortunately this was the only dealership that had the car I wanted with the features I was looking for. So I bought the vehicle, spending over $25K for a 3 year old car that only had 40K miles on it. The CarFax checked out and I bought this type of car in the past and never had problems, so I figured it would be all good.
Well... that was not the case with this one. After getting the car, I noticed numerous cosmetic problems that appeared to be the result of someone using a bleach-like chemical to clean it. They also sprayed Armor All over everything and didn't even wipe it down, as the entire instrument cluster was covered with it. The interior was so filthy that I had to spend $200 to have the car properly detailed.
In addition to that, I had to have the car re-inspected since I live in PA. When I took the car to my local dealership, they failed the inspection because the wiper blades were shot and the battery was the wrong size for the car. I looked at the battery and it obviously came out of a large truck. I highly doubt the original battery failed after 3 years and 40K miles, so I have to assume that Lyle's stole the battery that came out of the car and replaced it with an old piece of garbage. My mechanic had to argue with David Lyle in order to get him to pay for the replacement battery. He did send a check, along with a watch battery, being the unprofessional jackass that he is.
Don't ever buy a vehicle from these shady, fly-by-night losers. If you're looking for a pre-owned vehicle, do yourself a favor and go to a dealership that sells both new and used cars. My usual dealer said that they would never have sold a car in the state that this one was in. Dealerships that sell new vehicles have to meet strict standards in order to retain that ability, so they are far less likely to sell you garbage. Any cars that they get on trade-in that don't meet their standards get auctioned off to 3rd rate loser dealerships like Lyle's.
The only good to come out of this is that those morons paid way more for my trade-in than it was worth. They've already marked it down $2000 less than they gave me and they still can't sell it.

Provided by YP.comI have purchased 4 vehicles from Lyle's over the past 12 years or so, and I have always received stellar customer service. Each of the vehicles have been in excellent condition, and any service needs were taken care of without any complications. David Lyle has always treated me with respect, and always gave me a deal that was too good to pass up! No gimmicks, no sales pitch, or any other unnecessary sales tactics....Just straight forward business with no B.S. I would definitely recommend Lyle's to any one in the market for a nice, high quality pre-owned vehicle.
