We were looking for a place to take Mom out for Easter so she did not have to do any cooking. We heard the Sunset was under new ownership and was doing an Easter brunch buffet. We made reservations well in advance. Upon arrival on Sunday we found our way inside and checked in with the hostess. Reservations were running behind. Now to say there was standing room only is an understatement. The bar area was so packed you could not get near it. We stood and waited to be seated while watching employees knocking into people while the employees were coming out of a closet located 4 feet from the front door carrying out ice buckets. 45 minutes after our reservation time we were seated. Now this place is not that big. One of the two dining rooms was taken up by the buffet setup. The 15 minute line snaked through half of the other dining room. Once we got our food we found that most everything was between lukewarm and cold. They advertised prime rib, but instead it was some thin sliced something, not what I would call prime rib. No au juice, no gravy for the mash potatoes. Put butter on the potatoes and it would not melt, potatoes too cold. The desert table had some chocolate cake and some Danish that looked like it came from Kwik Trip. Have read other reviews about the food being good, and I believe that on an average day and ordering off the menu that might be the case, but when it comes to doing a buffet they don't have a clue. It was obvious that they were trying to get as many people through as possible for another $14.95 a head. They made it clear that seating was by reservation only, so they knew exactly how many people they were serving, so they should have been prepared. Was going to mention something on the way out, but the waitresses and the hostess at the front door didn't look old enough to own a car, much less be in charge of a restaurant. I didn't see anyone who appeared to be running the place. The Sunset is no longer the "supper club" I remember, they now call it "Bar & Grill". Well OK, then stick to that.

this place has a lot going for it . the location right on the lake is just beautiful! they have the best prime rib in the area. service is a little slow but the food and competetive prices make up for it.
