Big Thank You to Eva (lead instructor) that worked with my daughters the last 2 years and partnered with my wife and I as "Kumon Parents". The Kumon of Forest Hills, NY exceeded our expectations. At first, I was skeptical and luckily for my girls sake, I stuck with it for over 6 months at which point I noticed how it was changing my girls. Warning to parents, you need to encourage/convince/force your kids into doing the daily work (even on weekends!). My daughters do the work on their own now but often ask my wife and I to help them and occasionally we have to sit with them to do the work. Eva did her part at the Kumon center, making sure the tutors provided the support or advice and watching over our girls progress. Thanks Rebecca the tutor! I realized this was working when I saw how my oldest child was having epiphanies when problem solving or doing homework (this is like in Kumon when...) I'm moving out of Forest Hills and hope to find someone like Eva/Kumon when I move this summer.

I don't ever write reviews but I'm making an exception for the Kumon of Forest Hills. This is a big Thank You for Eva (the lead instructor) that worked with my two daughters the last 2 years and partnered with my wife and I as "Kumon Parents". I was skeptical about it at first and luckily for my girls sake, I stuck with it for over 6 months at which point I noticed how much it was changing my seven year old. This is not a hands off system. Parents need to encourage/convince/force their kids into doing the daily work (Even on weekends!). The girls do the work on their own and they call us over to explain something but occasionally we have to sit with our kids to do the work. Parents are part of the process also. Eva did her part at the Kumon center, making sure the tutors provided the necessary support or advice and watching over our girls progress. I realized this was working when I saw how my oldest child was having epiphanies when problem solving or doing homework (this is like in Kumon when....). The other benefit is that my girls now remind me that Kumon needs to get done today, instilling a daily habit of getting this extra work done. I hope that this habit if repeated over 10 years, will instill a certain way of thinking that will help them once they reach college, graduate school, their careers and lives. Thanks Eva.
