For many years my family, wife and I have really enjoyed our meals a the Buffalo Head restaurant. We were shocked when it closed last year but overjoyed to learn of their re-opening under different management.

My wife and I made the trip down there last November.

The service was fine, the cup of soup very tasty but our entrees did not live up to the high standards which the Buffalo Head was renowned. We both had the shrimp scampi which we have enjoyed before at the Buffalo-Head. The product delivered was a poor substitute and didn't match its menu description. It was bland, lacking garlic or wine flavor and basically some very large shrimp (which were numerous but slightly tough,) swimming in oil. Very unappealing.

A few days after the meal we wrote a nice letter to the new owners explaining our hopes for their success at the restaurant and also our dissatisfaction with the scampi. To date, several months later, we have received no response at all. This is not as it should be.

Just wanted to post a review of the Buffalo Head Restaurant in Forestport NY. We were greeted and seated right away when we arrived. It was all down hill from there. Waitress took our drink order and delivered them sometime later. Other people were seated during this wait. Finally drinks came. More people were seated. Well I think you are getting the idea, so I will make this story as short as possible. They were all served before us. Some of them even finished their meal and left before we got served. Waitress was a space cadet totally. When our food did finally arrive it was horrible. Speaking only for myself my mashed potatoes with gravy had a coating over them like they had sat for a while. NYS strip steak was just full of grizzle and pretty tough. Sauteed mushrooms were served in a bowl with butter and wine poured over themnot sauted. To sum it all up, VERY POOR SERVICE and VERY POOR FOOD. I will never return there in this life time. I was there a long time ago and it was great

Reservations were made at noon on Saturday, August 11th, for a bus group of 34 people for that evening. We arrived at the Buffalo Head restaurant just before 8pm and was greeted by a most pleasant hostess. We were promptly seated and our waitresses immediately arrived to take our orders with most of us receiving separate checks. At my request, gratuity was added to the checks to make our departure quick. The service was most outstanding. All of us were amazed by the service from these waitresses. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Thank you for your great service. Deborah, Yankee Trails bus escort

Short Version: We stopped ther...

Short Version: We stopped there with 6 of us and $300 cash for a meal, and when we had a complaint the waitress laughed in our faces and said "We'll you're just going to have to suck it up!" When we asked for a manager she bent over in half with laughter. Despite the manager telling her (after all hell broke loose) to "let it go" when she asked if she should write us a check for at least our drinks, some woman followed my husband outside to the car hollering at him that "if you want a free meal, go to Burger King!"
