I adopted a one year old lab mix here in 2012 and it is now my favorite place! They have a big selection of dogs to adopt and the dogs are all happy and the staff knows a lot about them and cares a lot about them. I started volunteering here off and on and it is a lot of fun to walk the dogs because there is a park next door. The dog I adopted is amazing and came from another shelter where they were going to kill her because they thought she had food aggression, which she doesn't! The shelter worker told me all sorts of training tips but we never needed them, she is a great dog!

Great Experience!

I adopted a little Dachshund here in November and am so, so happy with him!! He was pretty much "move-in ready" vet work and training wise. The folks at the shelter were kind and helpful. So glad I found this place - will be back when we are ready for another!

Fantastic Place!

I began volunteering for Animal House after adopting my dog there. Every single dog that goes through that shelter is loved by the staff and volunteers and they spend an immense amount of time, money, and sheer emotion on every dog. The comment about them 'getting dogs for free' is ridiculous. They are pulling dogs from other shelters where they are about to be killed - I have seen them not hesitate to bring in dogs that need heartworm treatment, orthopedic surgery, physical therapy, months of behavioral rehab, amputations, dentals, you name it. And this is on top of the neutering, microchipping, deworming, and vaccinating that they do for every dog. If they were in it for the money, they wouldn't take in senior dogs, bully breeds, or behavioral / medical cases - they would stick with puppies and little fluffy dogs like so many other local rescues. Just look at their adoptable dogs online at any given time and you will see that they take dogs in that nobody else will give a chance. The staff sacrifices their personal lives for these dogs and are definitely not getting rich doing it. If you want to literally save the life of a dog - you can foster, adopt, volunteer, or donate to Animal House so that they can continue to help those dogs that nobody else will give a chance.

Worst Recue "if you want to call it that" In Fort Collins

All they are out for is your money poor service all around!!!Get dogs for free then try to charge a fortune for them and try to pass it off as a donation, think the state should audit these folks.... not a true rescue just a non profit trying to pay themselves!

Awesome and Amazing !

I have used the Animal House for my own dogs grooming and also for those rescued. My daughter found a dog so badly matted and the people at Animal House we so understanding and gentle with her. These people are excellent and amazing!!! If they do not choose you for a dog it could be something about the dogs past that would not make a good match or something they found in your past....They really want FOREVER homes not temporary homes because it does not work out....I agree with them!

They do it right!

Everything about this place is fantastic and sets them apart (and above) from the others. I have adopted two dogs from Animal House, one puppy out of foster care and one adult special needs dog. I take my dogs there for grooming and have volunteered with them on several occasions. Although adopting a puppy in foster care was not as 'easy' as getting one from the sketchy street corner based rescues, it was worth it. My puppy was healthy, crate trained, almost housebroken, and I knew a lot about her quirks and routines ahead of time from her foster parents. As far as my other dog, she would have faced certain death at her previous shelter had Animal House not taken her in and given her the time she needed to find a home that could give her what she needs. Their grooming services are affordable and I love being able to help other dogs out since I can't take in another one. They may be small and their shelter needs a bit of TLC, but they have huge hearts and are doing great things.

Animal House Rescue and Grooming, Fort Collins, CO.

Our family choose Animal House Grooming for our elder dog, Mindy, who was very arthritic. The groomers were always good in their communications with us and very good with her taking a substantial amount of time blowing out her thick double coat. We so appreciate their care which made her so much more comfortable during our hot Colorado summers. We highly recommend this service.
