I took several of my out of town visitors to the French Connection Horrible, terrible, tasteless, burned muffinsbad smell of cleaning products in restrant, very dustysad since downtown needs locals to bring folks there.never again

We ate there on a Friday evening, we were invited by friends. Food was OK but nothing special. I had a crepe but would not consider it French in any way. Neither was the caf��.

Service was not good. We were not checked on during our meal. After our meal, we sat at a table outside and wanted to have another drink. The waitress made it very clear this was an inconvenience for her.

Anyone can have a bad day, so we gave it a try the following evening with other friends and our teenage children. We thought it would be nice for them to be able to play pool after we ate and the adults chatted. The same waitress came to take our drink order while one of our party was in the restroom; she seemed very annoyed that she had to come back to the table to take an additional order. We were never offered menus, I had to get up and get them. She did come back to take our food order, again quite an inconvenience. Four of us order chicken wings but they only had two orders and we had to order something else. There was no apology whatsoever, merely another inconvenience for the waitress.

After we ate, we moved to the pool table for a couple of games. The waitress, at this point, forgot we existed and each time we wanted something else we would have to go to the bar to get it. Table service stopped completely. Just be fore we got our checks the waitress came to the table, took one of our drinks and poured it into a styrofoam cup and said she needed to wash the glass now. My husband paid our tab and left a minimal tip, commensurate with the service we received. I had gone to the restroom, while the tab was being paid, and then was verbally accosted by some woman who had been sitting at the bar regarding the tip we left. Apparently a manager of the caf��, she felt the need to berate me, my family and friends for tipping according to the service. She did not ask politely if there had been a problem, she did not care if we did not have a pleasant experience at her establishment. She was only concerned about the waitress��� tip and proceeded to yell at me about how she only pays them $3.35 an hour.

This restaurant had very little business for a Friday and Saturday evening, for obvious reasons. The food was only mediocre and the service was not only lousy, the management was rude and offensive. Not only will I never go there again, I make sure no one I know will go there either.
