Southwest Florida Museum of History is in a restored train depot, artifacts depict the history of southwest Florida from the Paleo-Indian period to the present. Of interest is the Land of Giants: Paleo Florida, an exhibit highlighting mammoths, mastodons and saber-tooth cats from the Pleistocene Epoch. Also displayed is The Esperanza, the longest and the last-built Pullman private railroad car, and a replica of a Florida Cracker house. Traveling exhibits also are offered. Downtown walking tours are conducted. Audio tours in English and Spanish are available.
