Provided by YP.comFor the life of me, I don't understand some people. Whine, snivel and complain. That's all they do - bitch about the food, bitch about the room, bitch about the service. You just can't fix stupid sometimes.
Several feet of water and a week without electricity at my home in Vero Beach - just 15 minutes from this Fairfield Inn - following Hurricane Irma and my family ended up staying at this Fort Pierce hotel. Tired of listening to my wife complain about the heat and lack of electricity, a client of mine had a corporate account here and was able to secure us a room.
My oldest daughter and I made the initial check-in with Maria. We were immediately advised of the lack of full facilities following the hurricane. When questioned what that meant, Maria advised that housekeeping was understaffed as most had evacuated the area and that our room might not be serviced every day of our stay. We were told that fresh towels and toiletries were available if we came to the front desk.
No problem with the lack of housekeeping. After all, didn't we just get hit with a hurricane and most of the area remained without electricity? Totally understandable and not a problem whatsoever.
Room 424 of the Fairfield Inn & Suites Fort Pierce it was. Conveniently located between the Florida Turnpike and I-95, it's on the south side of Okeechobee Road. Decent facility for its Fort Pierce location along side two major highways. We had no complaints. Despite the hurricane and lack of staff and supplies, they did provide full breakfast. Hotel had fully working Internet and cable television. Room had a coffee maker, microwave and mini-refrigerator. Ice maker was down the hall.
Speaking of breakfast - the Fairfield Inn did provide a complementary breakfast each morning of our stay. For the most part, the breakfast was full and complete along with bread, breakfast cakes, oatmeal, do-it-yourself waffles, various fruits, along with drinks such as milk, juices, hot coffee and tea. I heard some other guests bitch about the fact that eggs and sausage weren't always available. My comment to them was simple - "maybe you haven't noticed that we just got hit by a hurricane." The young man working the food service area - I believe his name was David - chuckled on more that one occasion.
I met Matt Pica during our stay. Turns out the guy helping with housekeeping and kitchen duties was the general manager. Pica inquired on more than one occasion whether my family had everything we needed. I advised we lived only 15 minutes away, but did compliment him on the job his staff were doing in spite of rude Hurricane Irma evacuees. During our stay, I kept running into the same staff - Maria, David, Matt and Resha. Turns out they were staying at the Fairfield Inn following the hurricane and were the "entire staff" basically running the place.
The Fairfiled Inn & Suites Fort Pierce fully met our expectations following Hurricane Irma. While we have never stayed here before - and probably won't except for a storm - this was a 5-star experience based upon the circumstances.
That's all I have to offer. Take it or leave it.
