the best for true coney dogs

i just came across this brand at the local walmart in the refrigerated section right next to the hot dogs. very convenient as i was craving good chili dogs and the chili from a can is just chili. a few canned brands are excellent. try rays brand if it is available in youre area. when i lived in illinois it was common in most grocery stores. im not talking about rays brand chili, the usual canned chili that comes in a 15 ounce can for a $1.50. this is rays brand chili dog sauce or coney dog sauce. the can is half the size and costs twice as much, but worth every penny if you really want a great chili dog. i call them coney dogs with that type of sauce as it is not really chili at all, it is just like the great coney island dogs. well i was skeptical but tried the famous chili inc brand. the label said 4 star. its totally great. it tastes every bit as good as the rays sauce and considering the cost for a 7 1/2 ounce can of rays for about 3 bucks this is 15 ounces for about the same price. the taste and texture are just the same as rays brand, which is perfect for a true coney dog. dont follow the directions if you are using it to top a dog. dont add the water. it has just the right amount of moisture that it is perfect. moisture in the form of grease or shortening. who cares, it tastes great. and i must admit the rays brand that i loved had alot more grease, when i used this i was at first dissapointed that it wouldnt be very good. then i took a bite. it is perfect the way it is. from now on this will be the only product i buy when i am making coney dogs. sorry if i get long winded but that was the best coney dog i have had in many years. and i want to tell you all not to be cheap if you want great food. get the famous chili inc for 3 or 4 bucks. it was about $3.25 here. and good hotdogs. all beef. i prefer vienna beef or hebrew national brand, the ballpark all beef brand is really decent also. and dont skimp on the buns. i know the walmart brand hotdog buns are like 78 cents. but they suck if you are making great dogs. just break down and spend the 3 bucks for sara lee brand. if you went to the cost of buying great chili dog sauce and all beef hotdogs why cheap out on the buns? that would be like buying a new engine for a ferrari and putting it in an old rust bucket. sure you can be cheap and buy a pack of 99 cent hot dogs( made out of the grossest parts of whatever animals they have laying around) a cheap can of generic chili, and some generic buns, and make up 8 chili dogs for about 25 cents each. and gag them down because you have to eat. or you can buy the good stuff and have a great coney dog for about a dollar. thats way less cost than a cheap gas station hot dog. sure i raved, but famous chili inc is the only great coney dog sauce i have had in years. my only complaint is they dont have a website up for online orders.
