Harry G. Barr Company was the first company in its region to fabricate aluminum storm windows and doors, aluminum replacement windows and primary windows for new construction. The company s products have energy-efficient vinyl frames with insulating glass. They include single hungs, double hungs, sliders, picture windows, casements and awning windows. The windows are designed in shapes like trapezoids, triangles, arches, ellipticals, quarters, half circles and full circles. When the company, then known as Harry G. Barr Building Specialties, began at the end of the Great Depression, its primary customers were the general contractors of public buildings financed under the Public Works Administration and the Works Progress Administration. As time went on, the company s product mix changed to lend itself more to the residential segment of construction. Established in 1934, the company is located in Fort Smith, Ark.
