RIPPED OFF AND UNHAPPY!

My car broke down right outside of Allied this morning. I thought, how convenient...little did I know... They charged me 40.00 for a misfire diagnostic (that was fine and reasonable). My husband had knocked a wire/spark plug loose, so they just had to reconnect it. Since the van was there, I asked them to change the oil as well. They called to let me know they were going to change it. They said something along the lines of, you know how much synthetic high mileage oil is. I said yes, because we've been using synthetic for over 20 years on different vehicles. Stupid me, shouldn't have just trusted them. When I went to pick up my van, I was charged 16.59 per quart of oil, plus 15.00 labor (plus the filter). They said they paid 9.79 per quart at O'reilly. I told them that was rediculous and I could have picked up the oil for a lot cheaper than that (about 50-60.00 less). You can get a 5 qt container of mobil 1 high miles for around 25.00 at walmart and 36.99 at oreilly. They got individual containers at oreilly and paid 9.79 each (so they say , oreilly told me that what they paid them is between oreilly and them but that is how much it would cost if I went in and bought it in individual quarts). When I told them I could have gotten it for cheaper, the mechanic said he would have charged me an extra 50.00 for bringing in my own oil. He said that is how they pay the lights (I was boiling at this point). For a diagnostic (10 minutes to plug machine in) and just a replugging of a spark plug that got loose (no parts or more than 2 minutes of labor) and a synthetic high mileage oil change, I paid 156.77. I learned a lesson, never say you know how much the oil is when they say it's expensive. Get the quote first. I feel I was ripped off and that they are rediculous for charging 16.59 per quart of oil. An honest person would have suggested me picking up my own oil at walmart for 25.00 and then charging me 20.00 for the change. I even think it would have been reasonable for them to tack on 5.00 for me bringing my own oil because of profit they could have gotten if I didn't. I don't think it was right that they didn't tell me that they charge a lot more than the normal price for high mileage oil.82.95 rather than a 5 quart bottle I could have gotten at walmart for 25.00. When they said, you know how much high mileage oil is , right? I think it should be safe to assume that if a 46 year old house wife with no mechanical/auto experience knows that I can get it at walmart for 25, then they should be able to do a lot better than 85. I should have just been able to trust them. Lesson learned. I will never go back again. VERY UNHAPPY. I clicked one star because I had to click something. I would have given them a zero if that was possible. I will give them this complement. When I broke down right down the street, they fit me right in. RIPPED OFF UNHAPPY!!!!!

i feel as if this shop robbed me. they over charged baddly, did not give me any sort of estimate before doing the work forcing me to pay his rediculous and outrageous fee.190.80 to have 3 syncronizers switched out i supplied all parts. beware of this Crook disguised as a mechanic
