H. V. Helbing Elementary School, founded in 1948, serves more than 600 students. The school offers classes in reading, math, writing and science. It provides health care and guidance counseling services. The school is a part of the Fort Worth Independent School District, which serves nearly 80,000 students through approximately 80 elementary and more than 20 middle schools. The Fort Worth Independent School District operates over 10 high schools and nearly 20 special campuses. The district s schools provide adult education sessions, as well as opportunities to participate in several athletic activities, such as basketball, football and cheerleading. Its schools administer the English as a Second Language program.
