Founded in 1935, UAW (United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America) is one of the largest and most diverse unions in North America. It is an international union, which manages more than 750 local unions. The union represents various workplaces such as multinational corporations, small manufacturers and state and local governments. It also represents colleges, universities, hospitals and private nonprofit organizations. UAW has more than 600,000 retired members and over 390,000 active members in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
