The Office of Vital Statistics is governed by the Department for Public Health, which is a part of Cabinet for Health and Family Services of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The office maintains records of births, deaths and marriage in the state. The Department for Public Health operates through women s health, laboratory services, and maternal and child health divisions. It also functions through divisions, such as public health protection and safety, prevention and quality improvement, and epidemiology and health planning. The Department for Public Health Develops and operates health programs and activities for state s citizens through the prevention, detection, care and treatment of physical disabilities, illnesses and diseases.
