Carma Laboratories is best known for manufacturing Carmex, a medical lip balm. Alfred Woelbing started making Carmex in 1937, but production was limited during World War II because one of its principal ingredients, lanolin, was needed by the military to prevent rust on war equipment and vehicles. In 1957, the product had become so successful that production was finally moved out of the Woelbing home to a manufacturing facility in Wauwatosa, Wis., a suburb west of Milwaukee. In 1976, Carma Labs built a facility in Franklin, Wis. It uses assembly line equipment specially designed for production of Carmex.

Out of the last 6 tubes of Carmex I bought, 5 of them stopped turning up in the tube when there was over 3/4 of the product left in the tube!! At the price we are paying for this product, seems like they would have a better quality tube!!!!!
