Provided by YPmobileNothing special here. Overpriced. More about decor than good food. Would not recommend nor would we return.

Provided by YP.comFriedhelm's Bavarian Inn was recommended to us about 15+ years ago when we still lived in Texas. Back then we went to Fredericksburg twice a year, in the spring and fall and we always found our way here for dinner. On my first visit I asked the waitress for a recommendation and she recommended the jaeger schnitzel and I was not disappointed. As a matter of fact it was wonderful!
We no longer live in Texas but we still travel to Fredericksburg once a year in October and never fail to stop in for dinner. We've tried every other German Restaurant in town and Friedhelm's by far is the best and most of the locals agree it is the best german restaurant in town.
Their portions are generous and the jaeger schnitzel is smothered in brown sauce and covered with LOTS of mushroom (unlike many of the other restaurants who give you a "hint" of mushroom). The meal comes with a wonderful cabbage soup that is very flavorful, salad, home made bread and one generous side dish. I have never been disappointed with the food and every time we bring friends along to try the food they are thrilled with the service and the food.
We have never been disappointed and anyone who we have recommended this restaurant to have been very happy with their meal and the service. This is not a fast food restaurant and the waitresses do not make you feel like they are in a hurry to get you served so they can seat someone else. The dining is relaxing and in a world where everyone is in a hurry this is something pretty rare. Unlike the chain restaurants who don't pride themselves of service, you get to relax and enjoy each course before they come out with the next one. So, if you are in a hurry, go to a chain restaurant but if you want good service, a nice relaxing dinner in a quaint restaurant this is the place. This is not glitz and glamour but it really is a place where you can take your time to enjoy good food, good conversation, a good beer and not feel rushed.
This truly is authentic german food, not a chain and they take pride in the food they serve and if you like German beer you will not be disappointed.
They do not take reservations so if you go on a busy weekend it's best to get there early because they are always busy.
