McGowan Barber Shop is a family owned and operated barber business. I have been a regular customer for many years now, and I would not even think of going elsewhere. The shop is maintained excellently, and the atmosphere is welcoming.....almost like the customer is family, too. Every Thursday is discount day for men ($3.00 off the regular haircut price). The whole family who work there are superb barbers.........for both men, women, and children. I am a regular customer for Linda, as she always trims my hair such that it lays evenly and smoothly every time.....and, that has not been an experience I have enjoyed regularly before. My hair used to be hard to manage and fly-away. But, Linda trims the hair to lay evenly and smoothly. I actually no longer use hair spray to keep my hair in place since having Linda trim my hair regularly. Every family member employed at the shop gives meticulous attention to every detail when trimming a customer's hair, and every customer walks out happy, including my wife.

I was visiting the Fredericksburg area and was looking for a haircut. If you are looking for a good and cheap haircut (Don't let the cheap bother you) this is the place. Absolutely professional, clean and has a very warm and welcome feeling to the shop. They are all about attention to detail. I highly recommend to anyone even with little one's.

It is a nice clean shop, the people are really nice and patient with the little ones. They have a special chair that is a fire truck which helps to distract small minds while they are getting their hair cut. I will be taking my son back!
