Provided by YP.comOn my son’s 17th birthday I took him to get his first shave at a Barber Shop. I routinely get a shave from an old Italian Barber in NYC. I find it relaxing and I thought this would be a fun experience for my son.
It was a Saturday and I did not want to drive my son to NYC so I called this Local Barber “Joe’s Barber Shop”. I asked them if they did shaves and they said yes. I took my son there. A young barber named John gave my son his first shave. He did not properly prep my son’s face with a hot towel or lotion. Slapped some shaving cream on his face. At the end of the shave, John did not apply any after shave lotion. My son’s face was covered in razor burns.
The Barber that gave me a shave was a woman named Rayna. I asked her if she knew how to do shaves and she said yes. She started by using electric clippers on my face, so even before she started the shave my face was irritated. Then she did not properly prep my face and proceeded to butcher my face and head. I have at least 7 cuts. She did not know to shave around a mouth. She was literally giving my chin a dry shave. I had to tell her how to do my upper lip or I would have been cut even more. Her excuse why she was cutting me was “you have such a thick beard”. After the shave she did not apply any after shave lotion or even rinse my face. When I paid her and did not leave a tip she gave me dirty look.
This was supposed to be a Barber Shop not a beauty salon if they did not know how to do a man’s shave they should have been upfront about and not lie.
