Heilman Plaster was referred to us by our contractor. He came & viewed what we needed done & said he could do the work but the swirls would be bigger than our other walls. We didn’t feel that would be noticeable & had him proceed. He came on a Thurs & Fri. By Sat there was cracking along the entire top & right side of the wall. Also, the swirls were vertical instead of horizontal like the rest of our basement. My husband called & Don said that cracking can happen & we should have known that. He said he could come & try to fix it but it might happen again; this would cost more.. We had 2 other plasterers & a designer come to our home & all 3 stated they have never seen anything crack so badly & it appeared the area was not taped nor muded properly. By this time, every edge was cracked even where he blended into a wall. I called Don to discuss & try to resolve things. I told him that he swirled vertically instead of horizontal. He told me I don’t know what I am talking about as they can’t be. He then said he had told me they wouldn’t look the same. I reminded him he said SIZE not direction. I told himto come back & look at his work. He hung up on me. I called back & tried to discuss the crack. He said cracking happens due to shifting. I asked “in one day” & he said “well no.” I asked how people are always fixing leaks, damage, etc. & ddn't have cracked drywall. He told me I don’t have a clue what I am talking about & asked when I became an expert in this. I asked to get my money back to get it properly repaired & he said no that he did the service asked & again hung up on me. I submitted a claim to the BBB and he never responded resulting in his score being reduced. I left a message regarding the BBB & asked for him to stand by his work & he did not respond. I paid the $ as soon as I got the bill as I assumed he was a professional & would fix his poor quality work. We are now out the $ we paid him & will have to double that so another person can fix it.
