The Engineering Division monitors and supervises road construction projects and design and construction of city parks. It designs a range of public infrastructure projects, including construction of streets, bridges and public buildings. The division s landscape architecture section is responsible for park development, median landscape and plaza projects. Its traffic and transportation engineering section handles more than 1,000 citizen-service requests annually and is responsible for traffic signal timing and coordination at over 150 city-owned traffic signals. The Engineering Division s traffic and transportation engineering staff also provides traffic counts to business and commercial developers. The division manages a staff of architectures, designers, consultants and transportation personnel. The Engineering Division is based in Fremont, Calif.
